Specialist Safe Removal
This is another exciting specialist project for stenball construction ltd
We had to erect a crane in a tightly confined area and attach a life capsule to the jib and break out the floor and roof giving access to the basement. We demolished the entirety of the building starting at the top working down, just leaving the outer shell.

Overview – Following a detailed tender and vetting process Stenball Construction Ltd secured this
contract to internally strip out a shop following the arson
attacks during the nationwide riots.
The 4 storey fire damaged building
required the removal of the collapsed roof, internal walls, floors and remaining
fixtures and fittings. The main object of the works was to remove internal
debris, make the building safe and recover a number of vault safes from within
the building containing items of value.
Operatives wearing RPE and PPE
worked from within a ‘Man Riding’ basket secured from a 30 tonne crane under
contract lift plan, they worked internally at high level to release the
buildings char burned debris such as timber, roof tiles, loose brickwork, blown
plaster, intermediate floors and internal walls, all debris was dropped to
ground level within the building.
Operatives also worked from scaffolding
with a line attached to the basket for stabilization and assisted in removing
loose debris, a banksman worked at roof top level to overview crane and vehicle
movements, all operatives including the crane operator were in contact at all
times via radio communication.
Once the aerial works were complete and
the building made safe from any falling debris, operatives worked from ground
floor openings to segregate and remove waste from within the
building.
Conclusion – The building was cleared of all debris and made
safe, to allow for the safes to be removed from site via the mobile crane, loading
them onto suitable low load transport. Due to the value contained within each
safe this was carried out under police protection with armed security presence and supervision.
