Hounslow Library

A beautifuly Designed and Integrated workspace by Peoplespace and Stenball Construction.The Library Refurbishment project is the creation of a flexible, accessible, technology rich study environment offering state of the art facilities. Sensitive to the listed status of the original part of the building, English Heritage have worked with the architects, Peoplespace, throughout the planning process to ensure that any upgrades and changes of use do not impact on the character of this modernist icon and aligns with peoplespace's original strategy.

Following the award of a substantial HEFCE grant, the project started in November 2009 with the main work starting on site in December 2009.

The Library was open and offering full service throughout the refurbishment, although inevitably parts of the building will have to be cordoned off for periods of time to allow works to take place. These were advertised well in advance. Through careful planning of the phases we were confident that the books will be fully accessible during the project.

The co-location of the Careers and Employability Centre in the Library will complete the delivery of a reinvigorated building at the heart of Hounslow that will be used as the primary location for study, learning, research, personal development and social interaction.
